My name is Bob Genetski, and I am running for state representative from the 88th District of Michigan (Allegan County - not including the City of Otsego, Otsego Township and Watson Township). This is an open seat due to term limits.
I am running for state office because Michigan needs major policy changes to ensure economic growth and create jobs. Currently, Michigan has:
- The highest unemployment rate in the nation
- More foreclosures than almost any other state in the union
- A 1.8 billion dollar deficit
Each of us knows someone who has been directly affected by this one-state recession.
While Michiganders drive past hundreds of "For Sale" signs, U-Haul trucks head south. Politicians in Lansing, after creating the worst economy in the nation, are talking about RAISING TAXES!!!
No state has ever effectively taxed itself out of a recession. The states where economies are growing are the ones that are cutting taxes. Ronald Reagan was right when he said that "Government is not the solution; it's the problem."
As a proud Republican, I know that Michigan's working families are struggling. We need a state government that will cut taxes, cut spending, and reduce the size and scope of government so as to make it more efficient. Allegan County and the 88th District need a state that will streamline government so that decisions are made closer to those they affect. And we need a government that recognizes it serves a people who are overwhelmingly a people of faith.
As your state representative, I will work hard for a more efficient state government. I will bring accountability to our public university system, push for quality and affordable healthcare, and strive to get Lansing to honor and dignify the word "taxpayer" as it once was.
